Well, like the WT, Scientology is excommunicating Cook and erasing all evidence of her former membership and leadership positions. Though she still considers herself as connected to the mother organization, she'll most likely soon gravitate towards the Independent Scientologist movement. It is probable, however, that this is yet another blow to Miscavige and the only thing keeping him in charge are his celebrity proteges. After all, he was Tom Cruise's best man at his wedding to Katie Holmes. One would think that the rank and file Scientologists who have borne the brunt of this abuse will be the ones to start a new organization, while Miscavige will retain the celebrity remnant along with the money and publicity.

Davis is hardly the goat. He had the only two TD receptions. It was stupid, but it didn't affect the score in any way. Kyle Williams muffed punts directly led to 10 Giants points. Enough said.

Religious affiliation is not discussed at interviews. If a JW was working there, it could be his or her attempt to set the partners "straight" about.. well, their "partnership".

They've got too much money and properties spread out across the world to fail. If somehow the legal entities (WT Society of Pennsylvania/New York) were to collapse or be dissolved, they'd be running it out of another country like Canada. Knowing how they think of the "Great Tribulation", the WTS probably already has plans somewhere for such a move. For an organization whose doctrine clearly states they are at one point to becoming banned by governments, you have to give them a little credit for having contingencies. Even should a few governments ban them, there will always be an overseas tax shelter that they could operate out of. They'd have armies of Witness volunteers just smuggling magazines in their pants to the banned countries.

Right, it could have been left there by anyone... from the cleaning lady to a low level secretary who just snuck them in. Just going by the stats, it's very unlikely that anyone of any significance there is a JW. If you reported that to one of the attorneys, they'd probably have the magazines immediately removed.

Do you get to choose who you" fall in love with" ?
by caliber init's possible to choose people you get to know.
so, in learning about the people around you, it is possible that the things you learn about them could be things you appreciate or, at the very least understand.
many ex-jw's believe they married for other reasons (than love ) such as spiritual qualities or for security.

Not so much a matter or love in the KH than a desire to have a normal sex life. Since you can't have sex out of marriage, a lot of marriages in the Hall are based on a primal desire to have a sex life. I know several couples back in the old days who were clearly not meant for one another, yet they still got together because they simply didn't want to be single anymore and live like a spinster. For my part, I didn't want a JW wife because I knew that it would have been a hasty arrangement made to satisfy both of our natural desires. I also didn't want someone telling me what I should be doing in the "truth".

Ever since Knorr took over, the identity of the writers and writing staff has been carefully concealed. You'd have to ask a Bethel insider for the info. Some of the old timers like Smalley are still there, but I'd say the bulk of the writers now are probably people you've never heard of.

Scientology just had their own "Ray Franz" moment when former executive Debbie Cook just blasted church leader David Miscavige. Only difference is that she was hard core until the very end. Miscavige is known for verbally and physically abusing fellow members. He keeps them in a trailer in the California desert called "The Hole" with very little food and with no toilet facilities. There is a substantial movement both within and outside of Scientology to dismiss Miscavige and go back to the teachings of Hubbard. While Scientology as the larger movement wont entirely flame out, it's possible that this split could send both sides into remnant organizations such as the old Bible Student ones that are still in existence today.

It's truly sad to see how other people's actions have tarnished such a great coach's career. At first I had wished they had just left Paterno out of this, but the pattern of not reporting child rape is just astonishing at all levels at Penn State. True, Paterno had done his "duty" by reporting this to his superiors, but one would think that he would not just leave it at that and be silent. We can all speculate about what we would have done in that situation. Even though Sandusky wasn't on his staff at the time, you'd think he'd have taken a personal interest in this, especially since this was coming from a former coach and could have tarnished the entire program. I doubt it was due to any deliberate malice on his part. But the possibility that he might have not wanted this to come out in order to protect the college and its football program can never be denied. I hope Sandusky rots for this, and the university higher-ups never hold a respectable job again. Paterno probably needed to go though. He probably should have done the honorable thing and resigned.

I can't believe my Niners aren't going because of a back-up punt returner who let one punt bounce off his knee in the 4th quarter and fumbled another one in sudden death overtime. They had Eli Manning contained late in the game and probably would have won 17-10. I'd rather have lost this the way Green Bay did. Instead I'm thinking Kyle Williams.
